So I've finally managed to find some time to wrap up the overhaul on my personal website, and now I'm trying to decide whether or not to migrate all my old blog posts over to my new system or leave them to rot over on Blogger.
I've decided that going forward - I'm going to use the Blog module available in Drupal, not that there is anything wrong with Blogger - I'd simply prefer to have all my content on one system, in theory having everything in one place will make it faster and easier for me to update the site more *ahem* regularly.
I've been thinking quite a bit lately about this website, and what I'd like it to be. Although I do like to keep an online portfolio of my creative work, I've come to realize that there are other things I'd like to use this website for, so during this latest overhaul I've been trying to work that out.
One new addition is the Tips and Tricks section, since my day job is building websites I run into the same CSS/PHP/XML/Drupal roadblocks from time to time and find myself digging through old code trying to find what I did the last time. The Tips and Tricks section is a place where I can document all these little things for myself, and I've set it up so that its open for comments too - so if someone out there stumbles on one of my little notes and has a better way of handling it - they can leave a comment and let me and whoever else stumbles upon it know.
I shoved my old content under a section called Vault for the next few months until I review my stats and decide whether it is worth porting over into Drupal or not.
The only big piece left for me to tackle is my online portfolio, and since its existing incarnation is so ridiculously out of date - this will require reshooting old work, shooting new work, adding a new section for photography and providing more detail about each piece.
As far as this blog goes, its going to be the same idea as my old blog. Inconsistant ramblings about arbitrary things and the occasional drawing. I'll make an effort to tag my entries going forward once I build a set of terms to use.
I'll be sure to add BORING so I can come back and tag this entry, for sure.
